Transparency

Nothing to hide. Everything to share.

We believe every bottle of Scotch should tell you exactly what is in it, and how it was made.

What we share

Every whisky we make comes with its recipe fully disclosed: every component whisky, its distillery, its cask type and its proportion in the blend.

And for all Compass Box whiskies goes: No caramel colouring. No chill-filtration. Nothing to hide.

Why it matters

We believe you should know exactly what you're drinking, and where its flavour comes from. Knowing the distilleries, casks and proportions behind a whisky helps you understand why it tastes the way it does, and find more of what you love.

Our campaign for transparency

By law, an age statement on a blended Scotch whisky can only show the age of the youngest whisky in the blend. So a whisky drinker often doesn't know how old each part of it is.

In 2015, we were challenged by the rule-makers for sharing the ages of the whiskies in our blends. In 2016, we launched a campaign for greater transparency in Scotch, arguing that whiskymakers should have the freedom, but not the obligation, to share the age and proportion of every component.

Not because age is everything, but because drinkers deserve to know what is in their glass.
