TRON Evolution: The Video Game: Overview

Everything new is well forgotten old. The hackneyed phrase still very clearly reflects the essence of almost everything in the world. That is why for modern gamers and movie fans everything connected with the Tron brand looks absolutely amazing, exciting and, most importantly, innovative. Play online game online friv games and you'll get an unforgettable experience. True, if any of them makes an extra gesture and looks at least at Wikipedia, he will find out that Tron: Legacy is a continuation of the film released in 1982. Yes, then there were no 3D cameras, Avatar and other fashionable achievements of technology. But such inimitable masterpieces of cinema in the genre of fiction, such as “Alien” and “Star Wars”, which to this day look worthy, have already appeared. And they are valued primarily because the director, cameramen, and the whole crew were able to achieve such amazing results, having such imperfect technical means. The original “Tron” also made a breakthrough in the field of computer graphics and its use in cinema.

But something we were distracted. Indeed, the purpose of this material is to acquaint you, dear readers, with the video game "Tron: Evolution . " She, by the way, is something like a bridge between the events of the first and second films. Although, frankly, Evolution copes with its task poorly: the plot does not really reveal the background and does not create any intrigue. Absolutely stereotyped “good” and “bad” guys are introduced to us in the first minutes, and then a completely standard beaver fight with a donkey takes place.

Our protagonist is a man of few words. All that is required of him is to listen to orders, requests and commands from the rest of the characters, and then regularly execute them. That's just for the implementation of important or not very missions, he is always sent alone. So the miserable in a brilliant helmet and tight-fitting suit has to do all sorts of tricks and do crowds of opponents on their own - and no one will support, and no one will appreciate. In general, sadness and longing.

Although at first glance what is happening looks cheerful. The computer jungle is all so stylish, sleek, shiny. Here and there soft neon lights - in general, as they say, the design is not for life. But these wonderful spaces turn out to be just cardboard decorations. A step to the side, or some other kind of liberty, such as trying to get into an unexpected place by the scriptwriters, is punished rather cruelly. It is supposed to move only to where the previously laid out rectilinear, monotonous and terribly inflexible course indicates.

Everything that our protagonist makes is very much reminiscent of either Prince of Persia or Mirror's Edge. And if, for example, in the last project, we often hesitated in choosing the right path, since the game itself was dynamic, and our heroine constantly had to rush somewhere or get away from someone, then in “Tron” the reason for all fluctuations comes down to one thing - a completely inadequate camera. In a chain of jumps, runs and other steps, it is very easy not to notice or, more precisely, simply not to understand the further necessary action. Well, when the camera suddenly shifts from a view from the back to the view from above, and at this moment you are busy trying to make the hero jump back and forth, then ... In general, I think that the indignation about this is understandable.

Unfortunately, a variety of acrobatics does not shine. We do the same thing almost all the time: we accelerate, climb a ledge, then run along the wall, jump onto another, and then cling to a ledge, trying not to get under the death rays. Sometimes these combinations are so prolonged that the chance of successfully overcoming any section comes down to a mockingly low figure. And conservation for what, you probably ask? And no matter what - in the “Tron” the notorious console system of checkpoints is literally rampant, which you will remember a bad word more than a dozen times.

But if you are lucky and neither the camera nor anything else plays a cruel joke with you, you will certainly find yourself in some kind of room or room where survival will be the main task. This is where the reward for all the suffering awaits - the battles in the Evolution are spectacular, dynamic and look amazing.

Our main and main weapon is a flat disk, with which we can activate switches, break through walls and, most importantly, actively water constantly annoying opponents to the right and left. Moreover, there are as many as four types of disks, access to each is acquired as it progresses. For example, there is a bomb disk (its name speaks for itself) or a stasis disk that throws up opponents and slows them down in flight so that we can hatch them from the heart. All this diversity does not exist for a tick - when meeting a new enemy, it is scanned, and the system gives us the enemy’s weaknesses. Therefore, in order to defeat a particular type of reptile, it is necessary to use its vulnerabilities to the fullest.

Each type of disk provides special techniques and capabilities, and their implementation requires a sufficient amount of energy. We, as well as her health, will be able to make up for it right during the fight. Here and there are peculiar vertical or horizontal panels, running along which, we immediately heal all our wounds. Approximately the same principle works and energy recovery.

If access to varieties of disks is given to us automatically, then all other options, chips and lotions will need to be pumped at special stations. For killing enemies, we gain experience and grow in level, which, in turn, is rewarded with megabytes of RAM. So at the upgrade station for a certain amount of accumulated bytes, you can get quite a lot of interesting things.

But, despite the fact that some combos look impressive, fights with opponents also gradually begin to tire. In order to diversify the gameplay, the developers introduced funny pokatushki into Tron - motorcycle chases (anyone could contemplate them in the trailer for the upcoming film) and battles on something like tanks. But neither the first nor the second, unfortunately, has become something really cool. Tanks - they are tanks in cyberspace. Know yourself they fell from a powerful gun on the ground and flying pieces of iron. Well, road trips are just a race along the highway, dotted with scripts and checkpoints everywhere. Unfortunately, you don’t have to wait for any wow effect from explosions and destruction, and therefore we go ahead, try to dodge piles of something and swear vigorously when we crash and start all with not so close conservation.

It’s clear that when the “single” does not pull, usually hopes are assigned to multiplayer. But here, the “Tron” did not live up to expectations (if suddenly someone had them). Online battles suffer the same shortcomings as a single player campaign. And the most important of them is monotony.

There are four modes to choose from. Two are quite ordinary: one against all and team to team. The usual system of frags - the one who committed the most kills (or the team that made it) wins. Well, two more interesting. To begin with, the "Silovik" - here it is necessary to capture the power nodes (something like "superiority"). And "Beater" (you forgive me, dear readers, but I use the terms from official localization) - in this mode, the main task is to capture the bit. With his constant retention, points are awarded to the player (or team) account, but at the same time, health burdened by storage gradually decreases.

Despite quite a peppy description, in fact the action did not work out. There are few people on the servers, and fights with those that are available quickly get bored. The only incentive to participate in such battles is to gain experience. The accumulated megabytes, as has already been said, can be spent on your own upgrade to facilitate, for example, the passage of a single player campaign. But there is no special meaning in this - controlling a weakly pumped character, your humble servant did not experience difficulties either in battles with real opponents, and even less so with bots.

“Evolution” turned out to be not entirely disgusting. Inclinations are definitely present in it. And she looks quite worthy in the list of projects created from the films. Nevertheless, it will be more likely to appeal to fans or victims of the Heritage advertising campaign than to ordinary users. I am sure that most gamers in the first hours will be pleasantly surprised by the setting and action against the background of Daft Punk electronic motifs, only these motifs are pretty monotonous, chasing in a circle and eventually get bored or bored. Actually, the same as the game "Tron: Evolution" .

Pros: nice and stylish setting; decent graphics; a nice surprise for the fans.
Cons: boring.
