A whisky that is already a complete cocktail.
Ryan “Mr Lyan” Chetiyawardana approached us with a fascinating brief for his new bar, Lyaness, the replacement to the award-winning Dandelyan.
Could we create a whisky with the characteristics of an old-fashioned, the whisky-based cocktail enjoyed around the world? Sweetness, spice and mouthfeel are crucial to this classic drink. We set to work.
Inspired by Ryan’s unorthodox decision to close Dandelyan at the height of its success, creating something new in its place, we chose our blending components for this new project from Compass Box releases of the past.

Harnessing the spice and fruit of our Great King Street Artist‘s Blend, the sherried depth and mild peatiness from a small parcel of Great King Street New York Blend, and deploying a little of our round, citrusy and spicy Orangerie, we have produced something that can be sipped on its own or mixed into one of Ryan’s peerless cocktails.
It is both fresh and summery, yet concentrated and mouthcoating. Aromas of orange peel rise from the glass, before classic Scotch whisky characteristics take over. The finish moves from toffee to cinnamon, before concluding with the heady fragrance of cocktail bitters.
Compass Box x Lyaness is exclusively available at Lyaness, Sea Containers London for a limited time.
